David held positions as the CFO and VP of Operations for Lasergraphics, Inc., a worldwide leader and high-tech manufacturer of film recorders. David was a key player in building Lasergraphics from an early stage company into a worldwide market leader. David reported to the CEO with responsibility for P&L, strategic planning, financial reporting, cost control, internal controls, banking, employee benefit programs, inventory control, process improvement, contract management, business development, shareholder relations, manufacturing, purchasing, tech support, human resources, customer service, production engineering, and corporate tax planning. A few selected accomplishments include:

Developed and implemented a reorganization plan resulting in improved gross margins and a reduction in operating expenses of $1.5 million annually.
Designed and implemented an MRP system for 4,000+ inventory parts, improving inventory turnover from 1.5 to 4.0 times.
Negotiated a major on-site tax audit resulting in a “no change” conclusion, preserving R&D tax credits in excess of $1.5 million.

Prior to Lasergraphics, David spent 14 years in public accounting as a manager at Ernst & Young and a partner in a local CPA firm. David’s responsibilities were primarily in the area of consulting where he served clients in varying industries including manufacturing, health care, bio-tech, medical device and retail. David assisted his clients in strategic planning, financial reporting, acquiring capital, systems improvement, recovery audits, process improvement, acquisitions, and business plan development. David’s clients ranged from venture-backed startups to larger, publicly-held entities.

David is a Certified Public Accountant, and earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton. With a passion for serving people in need, David has served as a volunteer with numerous outreach organizations and currently leads teams of volunteers to serve the poor in Mexico and Africa.
